Core Avionics & Industrial Inc. (“CoreAVI”) announced a technology partnership with Arm today to work together on solutions for safety critical graphics processing for next generation automotive systems.
This partnership will help simplify and lower the risks of achieving the most stringent levels of safety certification by automotive system manufacturers. Core Avionics & Industrial Inc. (“CoreAVI”) announced today that it will provide graphics and compute driver support for NXP® Semiconductors’ Arm® A53-based i.MX 8 applications processor with dual GPUs to enable next generation safety-critical avionics and automotive platforms. CoreAVI’s newest VkCore™ SC Vulkan®-based graphics and compute driver portfolio, as well as its VkCoreGL™ SC1 OpenGL® SC 1.0.1 and VkCoreGL SC2 OpenGL SC 2.0 application libraries, enable implementation of a full safe software stack on the i.MX 8 application processor. Airbus Defence and Space and Core Avionics & Industrial Inc. (“CoreAVI”) announced today a technology partnership to enable the use of GPU compute in airborne systems and applications that require the highest RTCA DO-178C/EUROCAE ED-12C DAL A safety certifications. 18 Sep: US Army and Core Avionics & Industrial Inc. Announce Collaboration on Crew Mission Station (CMS) aligned to the FACE™ Technical Standard for the UH-60 Blackhawk Program

US Army and Core Avionics & Industrial Inc. (“CoreAVI”) announced today that their successful collaboration on the Crew Mission Station (CMS), technology demonstration program for UH-60 Blackhawk aircraft, has resulted in CMS being selected for a Limited User Evaluation (LUE). The prototype CMS is running CoreAVI’s ArgusCore™ OpenGL® SC 1.0.1 graphics library suite and EGL_EXT_Compositor on Intel® i7 hardware with embedded HD5000 graphics displayed on Avalex’s 6” x 8” smart display.  Fully integrated with Presagis’s ARINC 661 server, the CMS could be the first system evaluated by warfighters using the EGL_EXT_Compositor extension, taking advantage of its flexible graphics windowing capabilities within their multiple guest OS architecture.

Core Avionics & Industrial Inc. (“CoreAVI”) announced today the release of a new safety critical VkCore SC driver based on a subset of Khronos’ Vulkan® 1.0 API. Designed from the ground-up for safety critical and high performance, VkCore SC enables applications to harness a modern GPU’s graphics and compute capabilities, all in one driver. VkCore SC is certifiable to RTCA DO-178C/EUROCAE ED-12C up to Design Assurance Level (DAL) A as well as ISO 26262 ASIL D. Legacy graphics applications are also supported through OpenGL® SC 1.0.1 and Open GL SC 2 libraries running on top of VkCore SC. This enables applications to take advantage of both OpenGL and Vulkan simultaneously and allows for long term support for OpenGL SC 1 and OpenGL SC 2. Core Avionics & Industrial Inc (“CoreAVI”) announced today that its OpenGL SC driver suite for the AMD Radeon™ E8860 graphics processor has been selected and successfully integrated on ASELSAN’s new advanced mission computer product line and Turkey’s Sikorsky Aircraft’s S-70i™ BLACK HAWK Helicopter. 20 Apr: New Graphics System Uses Single Core for High Performance Video Processing 

At Aviation Electronics Europe (AEE) this month, Aitech Defense Systems Inc. and CoreAVI will be exhibiting a demo of a high performance graphics system that captures images with an extremely low latency of two frames. All video throughput runs under VxWorks on a single core of a 12-core T4240 processor, keeping the remaining 11 cores free for other processing tasks. 

20 Apr: CES adopts CoreAVI’s TrueCore software GPU monitor 

Creative Electronic Systems (CES) announces the adoption of CoreAVI’s TrueCore technology, in the scope of its strategic partnership with CoreAVI. CES is currently integrating CoreAVI’s software GPU monitor, TrueCore, on its rugged GPU board: the VGP-2870. The integration of TrueCore on the VGP-2870 provides CES customers with a path to DAL-B certification (DO-254 / DO-178) for safety-critical video applications.

20 Apr: CoreAVI Announces TrueCore™, a Software Safety Monitor for COTS GPU Avionics Display Systems Requiring FAA DAL A Safety Certification

TrueCore™, CoreAVI’s real-time software GPU safety monitor, is an innovative approach that enables the use of COTS graphics processors in avionics and other safety-critical display systems, without the need for external FPGA based safety monitors. CoreAVI completed a product design meeting on TrueCore with the FAA where it was concluded that the product addresses the certification concerns associated with use of complex COTS Graphics Processors in systems requiring Level A compliance.

The Khronos™ Group, an open consortium of leading hardware and software companies, announces the immediate availability of the OpenGL ® SC 2.0 specification for bringing programmable graphics to systems that require system safety certification. 25 Sep: Core Avionics & Industrial Announces the Acquisition of OpenGL® Graphics Driver Intellectual Property for a Range of Graphics Processors for use in Safety Critical Real Time Systems

CoreAVI announces the purchase of all residual intellectual property assets of ALT Software through ALT Software’s bankruptcy proceedings in Canada, where ALT Software had been headquartered. 26 Feb: CoreAVI supports next-generation version of Wind River VxWorks with advanced OpenGL graphics and video decode driver support

Core Avionics & Industrial Inc. (“CoreAVI”), a Channel One company, today announced that it has released its latest embedded OpenGL and video decode drivers with support for the highly anticipated release of the latest version of Wind River® VxWorks® real-time operating system (RTOS).
